The Birth Bubble offers the unique KG Hypnobirthing antenatal education and preparation course that will help you calmly and confidently give birth to your baby.
There are countless sources of quality information regarding pregnancy and labour, however hypnobirthing is the only approach that actually prepares you for the experience of giving birth. Nothing can promise you the perfect birth, but attending hypnobirthing classes is a step towards ensuring you have the empowering experience you want.
My name is Giselle, I am a practising Midwife (BMid) and a qualified KG Hypnobirthing practitioner (DipHb(KG)). I was introduced to hypnobirthing as a student midwife and my interest has developed throughout my midwifery career. Despite what the name suggests, hypnobirthing is not stage hypnosis or hippy nonsense! I have found that the KG hypnobirthing technique encourages evidence based information, healthy scepticism and taking responsibility and control over your own birth.
I have found that women who practice hypnobirthing in pregnancy tend to have calmer, quicker and more comfortable experiences, whether the method of birth is a caesarean, instrumental or a normal delivery.
I provide these antenatal courses in the South Gloucestershire area, surrounding Wotton-Under-Edge.
What is Hypnobirthing?
Hypnotherapy for childbirth has been around for centuries. However, specific hypnobirthing courses have only started to develop over the last 30 years. It is based on solid evidence that fear in childbirth leads to increased pain and a slower labour. Therefore, the ability to release this fear through self-hypnosis and relaxation techniques will lead to a more comfortable and quicker labour.
Hypnobirthing is useful for all types of birth, in all different situations and settings to keep you relaxed and without fear.
Hypnobirthing is an evidenced based method of reducing pain and length of labour.
There are several research studies which prove its effectiveness: Smith et al (2006), for example, conducted five randomised controlled trials, involving 749 women, which found hypnosis during childbirth decreases the need for pharmacological pain relief in labour, including use of epidural, reduces augmentation of labour, and increases spontaneous vaginal birth.
As a part of the course you will be provided with the latest and best possible evidence that will help you make informed choices in your pregnancy and birth.
Partners often describe feeling ‘useless’, ‘helpless’ and ‘side-lined’ in the birth room. They feel like they do not know how to help their loved one through the birth of their baby.
As a part of the antenatal hypnobirthing course you are actively encouraged to be at each class; you can make such a big difference to the mother’s pregnancy and birth.
During the course, you will learn how you can play an active and useful part in supporting your partner in their birth.
